I’m passionate about helping people connect with their stories and themselves with curiosity and compassion. I’d love to assist you in discovering that even challenging aspects of yourself are valuable and have something to offer. I believe that by exploring our inner experiences in a safe and courageous environment, we can unlock our capacity for growth and healing.

I began my professional journey as a registered nurse, practicing in home care with a special focus on palliative care and grief. My experiences supporting individuals and families through end of life and loss taught me so much about the complexities of suffering, and the profound importance of compassionate care.
After 20 years in nursing I returned to academia, where I completed a master’s degree in counselling through Providence University College and Theological Seminary in April of 2023.
My academic training was rooted in evidenced based therapy and in particular understanding the nuances of human attachment and interpersonal neurobiology, emphasizing understanding the human nervous system and trauma-informed approaches. Recognizing the profound impact of trauma on individuals, I pursued additional training in trauma-informed therapies.
Among these, I developed a particular interest in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, a modality that resonates deeply with my therapeutic philosophy. I am engaged in ongoing training in this therapeutic approach with IFSCA.
While my formal training has equipped me with essential skills and knowledge, my personal journey has equally informed my work. I have been married to my husband for 29 years, and together we have raised two daughters. The experiences of marriage and parenting have taught me invaluable lessons in relationships, humility, and the necessity for ongoing self reflection and self-compassion.
My own encounters with grief, loss and suffering have profoundly shaped me and my empathy for others. These experiences have connected me to the stories of my clients, allowing me to offer a space of respect and support in their times of suffering.

There are many effective models of therapy, but they are all grounded in this basic truth. You need to feel safe, seen and valued to engage in the process.
I will do my best to truly tune into you with respect and genuine non-judgmental curiosity.
I will join you in exploring your experiences and discovering how they have shaped you and the way you relate to yourself and the world.
I will support you to access your creativity and courage to connect with and understand the parts of you that are stuck in self protective roles and the parts that carry painful burdens.
Humans are complex and cannot be reduced to their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, beliefs or what has happened to them. Therefore, I aim to take a biopsychosocial spiritual approach to therapy and do my best to avoid categorizing or pathologizing people and their suffering.
There is no one size fits all model of therapy, so I have an integrative approach. To do this I draw from the following psychological theories:
Person Centered Theory
Attachment Theory
Self Compassion Theory
Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB)
Polyvagal Theory
Family Systems Theory
Psychodynamic Theories
Theories of Human Development
I incorporate the following specific trauma informed models based on client need and preference:
Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)
Polyvagal Therapy
Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST)
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

I am committed to and responsible to my professional associations Code of Ethics that ensures respect for the personal values and beliefs of all my clients.
I understand that some clients may seek spiritual integration into their therapeutic work.
My training integrated scientifically proven psychological theories and practice along with the values of the Christian faith. Upon client request we can incorporate Christian faith to guide us in our journey together.
However, I know that many clients, from all faith backgrounds, do not wish to explicitly incorporate spiritual beliefs, but prefer to work together using other psychological principles alone. Your choices around this will be respected and honoured.
